The Cost

My best friend and I had a great conversation not too long ago about opportunity cost. In regard to economics, we discussed how it is “the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen.” -Oxford Languages

From that conversation it made me wonder, do we truly understand the importance of cost? For instance, for Insomniac Fitness to become what I envision it to be, I will have to sacrifice. The cost could vary, maybe it’s time with friends and family or time training? Maybe its sleep or momentary happiness?

In the beginning I was naive to believe that cost only accounted for those instances. The truth is, it will cost everything. In order to reach your aspirations, you need to understand that it will force you to grow in spaces you didn’t think possible. It will command your attention even when you’d rather have something else commanding it. Finally it will strain relationships and you mental fortitude. But if you can believe in yourself, believe in your capabilities and willingness to adapt and accommodate and believe that the reward is worth it no matter how hard the journey becomes, you’ll have the strength to keep going no matter the obstacle.
